Territory

Our land is characterized by the rolling hills, typical for the Umbria-Tuscany border; the view is defined by the lake and the small towns rich in history, art, culture and real flavors. We are in a strategic position in terms of the proximity to the most beautiful towns in Central Italy: Perugia, Assisi, Gubbio, Siena, Florence, Arezzo, Orvieto, Rome …
The holiday house is siuated in Torricella, a small hamlet of Magione, in the Eastern seaboard of Trasimeno Lake. This land is made up of hamlets rich in history and charm, with an extraordinary sunset view on the lake. Trasimeno lake is surrounded by eight districts: Castiglione del Lago, Città della Pieve, Magione, Paciano, Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Piegaro and Tuoro sul Trasimeno. Each one of these districts has its own beauty.

Thanks to the presence of flora and fish botanical species of crucial importance, the Trasimeno Lake Park is one of the most important and particular wetlands in Europe.
– Isola Maggiore – it’s the only one inhabited and it still retains its fifteenth-century characteristic appearance created by fishermen. In the year 1211, St. Francis of Assisi went there on his hermitage for Lent. Even today is still possible to admire the chapel and the rock where the saint went to pray.
– Isola Polvese – it’s the largest of the three islands. You can visit St. Secondo Church, the Olivetano monastery, St. Giuliano Church and a castle of 14th century. The Pool of Porcinai is more interesting; it’s also known as the aquatic plants ‘garden.
– Isola Minore – there is very little information about this island; it’s the smallest one of these, it’s not inhabited and has a private owner.
– Natural oasis La Valle – It’s a place of total quiet and unspoiled nature. It’s the natural heart of Trasimeno Lake, characterized by shallow waters and vast rushes that make it an important stop-over and a nesting area for thousands of migratory birds. In fact, it’s also a public observatory.
You have the possibility to do some trekking, a good walk, a bike ride, a horse ride, or free tour of the farm and discover the products of the soil, people, places and much more.
